Peltier Comic Picture Marbles could be the most well-known marbles ever made. Peltier Glass screened them onto their PEERLESS PATCH marbles, usually a white marble with a distinctive patch of another color. There were a few exceptions, but the most common figures were characters seen in the King Syndicated comic strips of the 1920s.
DESCRIPTION: This marble is a white Peltier Peerless Patch, PPP, with a transparent-green, bubble-filled patch on the back and the image of KOKO the Clown on the front. The image is well centered but has a light strike and a minimum of excess graphite splatter. KOKO the Clown, the principal character of Max Fleischer's OUT of the INKWELL, is featured on this example. Throughout the 1920s, he was Betty Boop's secret admirer and performed sketches and adventures with his dog, Fitz. CONDITION: MINT 9.5-9.6 The surface has a glossy wet shine and shows no signs of play or wear of any kind. A small open air bubble can be found near the bottom center of the first picture containing a tiny speck of graphite in its center. You may click here to view the grading system I use. Size 16.94mm or 0.666" at the equator. | |||||
