DESCRIPTION: This old solid core swirl, consisting of only four distinct colors, offers a wide diversity of combinations. The surface has six ribbons: three are transparent blue, one with a white line beneath the blue, and another made of two slightly separated blue lines; then three transparent green, two have white lines beneath the green, and the third has a contiguous blue tracer running alongside.
A rose-red solid core occupies the nucleus of the marble. Unlike the smooth surface of most solid cores, the surface of this one is a rose-red hue, but it is constructed with a series of high and low places. The lower places are ditches about twice as wide as the highs. Pale lavender lines, about the same width as the high places, are laid in these ditches to create a composition unique to my experience. I have provided extreme close-ups using the seventh and eighth images to show what I mean. Red solid core swirls are exceedingly rare, and the rose tint is rarer still. There are available examples of striped solid cores, of course, but I have never seen a red solid core of any hue used together with lavender. There can be little doubt how hard it is to ferret out a marble with these qualities, but finding one in the beautiful mint condition encountered here is a delight beyond my ability to describe. CONDITION: 9.6 This marble is in the same shape it was in when it left the factory. If there must be an anomaly, some very tiny stretched bubbles have included the surface in their domain. Several areas reveal an almost orange-peel effect. You may click here to view the grading system I use. Size 19.87mm or 0.782" at the equator. | |||||
