DESCRIPTION: Peltier Glass Company produced the National Line of the Rainbo series of marbles in the 1920s and 30s and some even into the 1940s. Many of the three-color NLR varieties became collectors' favorites over the years. They were assigned descriptive names for various reasons.
This example sports two yellow and four wildly swirling red ribbons meeting at two seams on the surface of a beautiful robin's-egg blue base glass. In 1938, DC Comics introduced their new hero SUPERMAN, depicted wearing a blue costume with red and yellow trim. After viewing these color similarities, it is doubtful collectors spent much time deciding the name for this marble as the SUPERMAN. Their scarcity testifies that this has become one of the world's most popular and sought-after marbles. Even harder to find are those in the elusive shooter size. And, Nowadays, it is nearly unheard of to encounter all these features in the fabulous MINT condition of this premium example. CONDITION: MINT 9.6 The surface shows no sign of play or wear at all, but there are some melted dimples here and there that are all shown in the pictures, some more than once.
